Sure, this is sad for the kids - but the whole Little League World Series thing is messed up. I fail to see the value in putting 12 year olds in any sport on a national/international televised stage - well, that is the value in building young men through the sport of baseball. The only value that is really created here is to feed the pocketbooks of ESPN and the egos of disillusioned parents looking for pro contracts and book deals. No wonder Little League banned its original founder Carl Stotz when he became uncomfortable with the big business evolution of the leagues. Let's start putting what is in the best interest of the young person as the first priority - teaching life lessons, developing values and building character. As adults, we need to lead and model this for our kids!
